Moped and scooters are easy to rent and the
best way to explore the Islands whilst
enjoying the fresh sea breeze. The Islands
are full of coastal roads with spectacular
views leading you away from the touristic
village into the country side where you can
see the characteristic hills with olive trees,
old monasteries, traditional Greece villages,
picturesque fishing villages where you can
enjoy fresh fish in local restaurants and little
stands along the roadside with folks selling
their own home made delicious Greece
honey and superior quality olive oil.

Along the coastline are many small deserted
beaches to explore where you will be totally
by yourself. In the low season the Islands
are fairly quiet from a tourism perspective. In
general restaurants, shops and
accommodation will close due to the lack of
visitors.

The Greece Islands are not worth visiting just
for a short stay. Whoever wishes to visit the
Islands should at least spent a minimum of
one week to really soak up the atmosphere,
discover the secrets of the island and relax
like a local. To get to the islands extra flights
and sometimes even a boat transfer are
needed. Optional one can do a 5-day island
hopping tour for a short visit of multiple
Islands nearby Athens.

Discover Greece
Greece consists of the mainland, the
Peloponnese peninsula and more than 6.000
beautiful islands. Only 227 of these islands are
inhabited. The many ancient ruins and
archaeological sites are the main reason to
visit Athens, capital of Greece. The impressive
Pantheon, the Acropolis, the Temples of Zeus
and Hera or the Olympia where the Olympics
games begun are true highlights of Athens.
The historical sites are not too far from each
other, however a walking tour can easily last
the whole day. A tour with a hop-on hop-off
sightseeing bus is a great way to see much of
the city with different routes to choose from. A
wonderful route is the Athens beach route with
great coastline views and stops at several
beaches including Vouliagmeni Lake Beach
which is one of nature’s wonders.

During the warm summer months many
Europeans find their way to one of the relaxing
and beautiful Islands for a beach holiday
combined with traditional village visits, a little
gift shopping and dining on the waterside with
views over sea. The islands coastline consists
of sandy and gravel beaches and unspoiled
rocky coasts hiding the most secret and
remote beaches. The island atmosphere is
relaxed and easy-going with many friendly
elderly people living here while the younger
generation is moving away to bigger cities.
